Gregory M. Kapfhammer

... and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a saviour. Isaiah 45:21 (KJV)
Welcome! My name is Gregory M. Kapfhammer and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Allegheny College. I am responsible for the development of the Department's new Applied Computer Science Major. This major is designed to help students learn how to utilize theory, techniques, and tools to implement efficient and effective software applications. I develop and teach courses in the areas of software engineering, software testing, data management, and distributed systems. I am also involved in the teaching of the department's introductory courses, junior seminar, senior seminar, and a research advisor for undergraduate theses.
My research generally focuses on software engineering, software testing and analysis, and computer software systems. Specifically, my software testing research focuses on the distributed execution of regression test suites, the wrapping of software components, the performance analysis of GUI creation frameworks and the testing and analysis of applications that interact with databases. My research in the area of computer software systems has focused on benchmarking frameworks for tuple spaces, the implementation and analysis of tuplespaces, the creation of frameworks for building distributed genetic algorithms, and quantifying the performance of communication and storage primitives. I am also the convener of the Research in Computer Science Seminar that is hosted by the Department of Computer Science at Allegheny College
I received my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh, working with Professor Mary Lou Soffa. In past experience, I was a Research Associate at Cigital Research Labs. Above and beyond being a computer scientist, I am proud to be a Christian, husband, and father. If you are interested in communicating with me, please view my complete contact information. Please check my Weekly Schedule, Fall 2008 if you would like to schedule a meeting with me. If you would like to learn more about me, then please read my Brief Biography and try a Google search.
